About us

Our History

Empowering lives, Building futures project was born through Word Alive foundation fellowship which was started in the year 1998 and was later registered with the government of Kenya in the year 2011. The project brought about the church we minister today (Word Alive Foundation Fellowship church). It  touches on the lives of beings that are normally affected in their way of living due to vulnerbility through poverty, disability, orphaned or aging.

The project was founded through the childhood struggles, denials, stigmatization and the pain of living with disability of Reverend Rosemary Gichohi. Having the experience she couldnot bear the pain of seeing others go through the same ordeal. With only one person living with disability, the project was started through the street of Nairobi preaching to the persons with disability and  has grown to the level it is now. Through prayers, sacrifice and intervetion from well wishers, we have been able to accommodate a total of 458 children, 258 mothers and caregivers, 39 widows,3 refugees and 71 elderly. Out of the 458 children; 12 are total orphan, 354 are the poor or needy (getting one meal a day), 92 living with disability. This gives a total of 829 beneficiaries and still growing.

Project Goal

The primary goal of the Empowering Lives: Building Futures project is to support orphaned children, individuals with disabilities, those from impoverished backgrounds, and the elderly by creating opportunities for education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, and social integration. By addressing these needs, the project aims to improve overall well-being, break the cycle of poverty and marginalization, and empower 1,500 families within the next five years for a sustainable and brighter future.

Wellwishers

It’s been a long journey that we couldnot have walked alone without the support of our wellwishers who have contributed immensily through prayers and items of goodwill and one time gifts such as maize, beans, cakes, noodles, breads and clothes. Our aim is to feed the children everyday but we have managed to sustain the feeding programme for four days a week, which couldnot have been possible on our own.
